The beauty of water curtain walls is maximized with lighting. Professional lighting design is the key to upgrading water curtain walls from “daytime landscapes” to “all-weather art installations”. Through reasonable layout of LED light strips, projection lamps, wall-washing lamps, and other lamps, combined with the dynamic effect of water flow, it creates a nighttime visual feast of interwoven light and shadow and changing colors, making water curtain walls the visual focus of the space, suitable for commercial night scenes, courtyard lighting, cultural tourism landscapes, and other scenarios.

Lighting design must follow three principles: safety, energy saving, and integration. The preferred light source is LED low-voltage lamps with voltage ≤24V to eliminate hidden dangers of electric leakage. Meanwhile, LED lamps have low energy consumption and long service life (≥50,000 hours), meeting energy-saving and environmental protection requirements. According to water curtain wall materials and scenarios, lighting layout is divided into three modes: rear light transmission, surface wall washing, and bottom projection. Glass water curtains use rear LED soft light strips for full-body light transmission, with water flow like colorful satin under lamplight. Stone water curtains use side wall-washing lamps to highlight stone texture and water flow levels. Courtyard water curtains are matched with bottom projection lamps to create a quiet nighttime atmosphere.

Color design is the soul of lighting effects, divided into three styles: monochrome warm light, colorful gradient, and dynamic programming. Private spaces such as homes and clubs choose 3000K warm white light to create a warm and quiet atmosphere. Commercial complexes and internet-famous spots adopt RGB colorful gradient lights, combined with DMX512 consoles, to achieve dynamic effects such as flow chasing and breathing flickering. Large water curtains in cultural tourism projects can also be linked with music systems to create music water curtain light shows, allowing light and shadow to change with rhythm and enhance scene interactivity.

Lighting installation requires good waterproofing and concealed treatment. Lamp protection grade ≥IP67, suitable for humid environments. Power cords use waterproof cables with sealed joints to avoid short circuits. Lamps are hidden in the water curtain frame, uniform flow trough, or water collection tank without damaging the overall aesthetics. Meanwhile, the lighting system is linked and controlled with the water circulation system to achieve synchronous start-stop, avoiding waste of energy from idle lighting.

Lighting design not only improves the nighttime ornamental value of water curtain walls but also strengthens spatial atmosphere shaping. Cool-toned lights create a sense of technology, warm-toned lights convey warmth, and dynamic lights enhance scene vitality. Through the perfect integration of light, shadow, and flowing water, water curtain walls break through time limitations, becoming all-weather artistic landscapes and endowing the space with more emotion and vitality.
